NEVER open the power supply
An ATX PSU contains capacitors charged to 400V that maintain voltage even after disconnecting from power. Electric shock can be fatal.
Don't use cheap PSUs without certification
PSUs without 80+ certification may have unstable voltages and poor protections, risking damage to expensive components.
Don't use cables from a different PSU
Modular PSU cables are NOT universal. A Corsair cable plugged into a Seasonic can burn a drive or graphics card.
Replace PSU after a power surge
Even if the computer works after a surge, the PSU may have lost its protections. Order diagnostics — prevention is cheaper than repair.

Depends on configuration. Office computer: 300-450W. Gaming with mid-range GPU: 550-650W. High-end gaming (RTX 4080/4090): 850-1000W. We select a PSU with 20% power headroom.
Is it worth repairing a PSU?▼
Depends on brand and age. Cheap PSU after 5 years — better to replace. Premium PSU (Seasonic, Corsair RM) after power surge — a fuse or capacitor replacement may suffice.
What is 80 Plus certification?▼
PSU energy efficiency certification. 80+ Bronze: ~85% efficiency, Gold: ~90%, Platinum: ~92%, Titanium: ~94%. Higher efficiency = less heat and lower electricity bills.
Modular or non-modular PSU?▼
Modular — you connect only needed cables, better airflow and aesthetics. Semi-modular — ATX and CPU cables permanent, rest detachable. Non-modular — cheaper, but more cable clutter in the case.
Can a damaged PSU destroy other components?▼
Yes — unstable voltages can damage the motherboard, processor, RAM and graphics card. That's why it's worth replacing the PSU proactively after 5-7 years of use.
