Facebook, Messenger and Instagram Outage — What to Do and What to Avoid (June 12, 2026)

✅ UPDATE (4:30 PM): Meta services are coming back online — we checked, Facebook and Messenger are working normally for us again. The first reports concerned Instagram (around 3:00 PM), with mass reports rolling in from about 3:30 PM — in total the outage lasted just under an hour. If something still does not work for you — log out and back in, services return in waves. Heads up: the wave of fake "Facebook" emails starts NOW — read the "What NOT to do" section below.

Since around 3:00 PM (June 12, 2026) a global outage has been affecting Meta services: Facebook, Messenger and Instagram. Reports are coming from all over the world, including Poland. If the apps aren't working — it's not your phone or your internet.

How to tell it's this outage

• pages and apps load forever or only show old, cached content,
• some users have been logged out — and the system rejects the correct password,
• Messenger messages don't go through or are heavily delayed,
• the problem occurs on every device — phone, computer, tablet.

If other sites and apps work normally and only Meta services are affected — there's your answer. Your hardware is fine.

What NOT to do (this matters more than you think)

From our workshop experience: every major outage is harvest season for scammers. Within hours, fake "security alert" emails and texts start circulating. So:

• Don't click any links in emails or texts about your "account at risk", "verification" or "restoring access" — these are password phishing attempts,
• don't change your password via links — if at all, only by typing facebook.com into your browser yourself, after the outage ends,
• don't install any "repair tools" — you can't "fix" Facebook with an app,
• don't factory-reset your phone — it won't fix anything and you may lose data.

What you can do

Honestly? Nothing — and that's the right answer. The outage is on Meta's side and only Meta can fix it. The history of similar outages (the biggest one in 2021 lasted about 6 hours) shows services come back gradually. Meta has not issued a statement so far (as of ~4:00 PM) — confirmed by the security outlet Sekurak. The scale is such that even outage-monitoring sites buckled under the traffic at times. We will not repeat speculation about the cause.

Once services are back, stay extra alert to "Facebook" emails for a few days — the phishing wave usually outlasts the outage itself. If you suspect you've already clicked something and your computer is acting strange — we'll check it and remove any threats, or just call us: +48 664 725 410.

Is my data at risk?

The outage itself is most likely an infrastructure problem, not a "hack" — logouts and rejected passwords are a typical symptom of login systems being unavailable, not of stolen accounts. The real threat is phishing riding on the outage. The rule is simple: no links from emails or texts until things are back to normal.
